Paula has worked in the field of Platform Engineering for more than 10 years and has witnessed first-hand how organisations struggle to break down silos and bottlenecks to enable teams to deliver value. The publication of Team Topologies in 2019 provided a clear, well-defined set of principles and practices that greatly expanded on the concepts that Paula was passionate about, such as platform as a product. Team Topologies provided a shared vocabulary for organisations to better understand how teams could work and interact more effectively.

Nearly all conference talks that Paula gives these days make reference to Team Topologies and the importance of understanding team types and interaction modes, for example her talks at DevOxx UK in 2021 and at PlatformCon 2022. Paula also founded the first FastFlowConf in 2023: a single-day conference dedicated to sharing knowledge and ideas from Team Topologies with practitioners, experts and enthusiastic beginners and growing the community.
